Best practices exchange program visits of Republic of Moldova to Romania

During 9 – 12 July 2021, the delegation of Moldovan winemakers participated in best practices exchange program visit to Romania, as part of the WINET Black Sea Basin project, financed by the European Union. Moldovan delegation was composed from representatives of wine sector, wine sector assosiations and business supporting organizations, all participating in best practices exchange programs organized in the neighboring country, România – WINET project partner.

The study tour started in Cernavodă City, in Rasova Winery where the winemakers from the two countries discussed similarities and differences of vine-growing and winemaking. After Rasova, the team visited Trantu Winery located in Cernavodă as well, and Hamangia Winery in Baia village. The hosts presented their vine plantations as well as their winemaking facilities, talking about methods and equipment used. The wine tasting was the last part of the visit and the Moldovans were not surprised to find similar tastes and aromas.

The next days of the exchange program visits were spent in a very picturesque area in the Danube Delta during the visit at Bratu and Macin Wineries. Representatives of moldovan wine sector had the opportunity to be inspired by talking to the owners while visiting the Delta Dunarii Winery. A company with 30 ha. of vine plantation and 300 m cellars, that is producing a large selection of wines. The Moldovan team members were very curious to know everything: from vine growing, to wine producing, marketing and exporting. They werere also eager to share with their colleagues from Romania, how things are done in Moldova and the results the winemakers managed to achieve.

WINET project announces companies that meet selection criteria for participation in experience exchange programs in Romania and Bulgaria

The Investment Agency, leader of the cross-border project „WINET – Trade and Innovation in the Wine Industry“ announces the wine companies that have been selected and whose representatives will benefit free of charge from exchanges of experience, which will take place during:

  • 4 – 7 July 2021 in Bulgaria
  • 9 – 12 July 2021 in Romania

Each exchange of experience will unify a group of 10 representatives of wine companies from the Republic of Moldova who will make study visits dedicated to improving the process of technological wineries in Romania and Bulgaria.

The companies and organizations that meet the selection criteria for participation in experience exchange programs in Bulgaria are: Familia mea, Leuntea Vin, Gogu Winery, Javgur Vin, Suvorov Vin, TartcomVin “Novak Winery“, Agrici Winery, Chamber of Commerce and Industry from Republic of Moldova, National Office of Wine and Vine, Ministry of Agriculture and Regional Development from Republic of Moldova.

The companies and organizations that meet the selection criteria for participation in experience exchange programs in Bulgaria are: Imperial Vin, Podgoria Vin, Migdal P, Pelican Negru, Milestii Mici, Chateau Vartely, Combinatul de vinuri Taraclia, Karagani Winery, Salcuta Winery, Association MĂR.

We remind you that WINET – ”Trade and Innovation in the Wine Industry” is a cross-border project in the Black Sea Basin region in which the Republic of Moldova is a leading partner and leading implementer. WINET is part of the Black Sea Basin program and is incorporated into the European Union’s Cross-Border Cooperation policies under the European Neighborhood Instrument.

Svetoslav Manolev – the first Bulgarian to win the title Master Sommelier

Svetoslav Manolev MS during the wine tasting The first-ever Master Sommelier exam took place in 1969 and in 1977 the first and most prestigious institution for sommeliers to this day was founded. Nowadays the training is conducted in Europe, Oceania, Asia and America. There are 4 levels of training – Introductory Sommelier, Certified Sommelier, Advanced Sommelier and Master Sommelier Diploma. The exam is made up of atheoretical part, a tasting and wine serving skills.
