Description

The creator of the philosophical concept of THRACIAN LEGENDS wines is Katerina Dimitrova.
Led by her irresistible aspiration, that overcomes all obstacles to make organic wine at a high European level, she promotes the humane ideas of organic farming in the best way.
The plantations are about 160 decares in the area of the town of Aytos, at the foot of the Balkans, where the climate is extremely favorable for organic farming. These are 40-year-old vineyards of the Pamid and Muscat varieties, and new ones of Merlot, Rubin, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. As with the old ones, the new ones have low fruiting so that they do not have to be treated with any plant protection products, except for biofertilizers.
The plantations are located in a ventilated place with a slight southern slope, very suitable terrain for biologists. They are treated with the latest class of biopesticides - plant extracts with no quarantine period of action and are completely harmless to humans and the environment.
In order to elevate the ideas of organic farming from a purely scientific to a higher spiritual level in front of a wider circle of people, she for the first time and quite originally connects them with the philosophical teachings of the famous and beloved Thracian of antiquity, Orpheus.
The wines from the THRACIAN LEGENDS series tell the story and legends of the ancient Thracians.

History

--
Thracian Legends is a project of Katerina Dimitrova which includes her family’s organic vineyards, cherry gardens and a small winery. The plantations are in the town of Aytos, under the Balkans, where the climate is exceptionally favourable for organic farming. The plantations are 40-year-old ones and new ones, both of which are set to have low fruiting so that they do not have to be treated with any plant protection products other than organic fertilizers.
Katerina’s father – Dimitur Nikolov used to take care of those plantations years ago when he was deputy chairman of the Aytos Cooperative. He would often try to forbid people from spraying the cherry trees beside the road because others would stop-by to pick some fruit without knowing that the trees have been treated with chemicals.
