Description
The Belogradetz winery was established in 2011. The winery was built to turn into wine the fruit of their own 1000 acres of vineyards planted in 2006-2008. And the vineyards are located on the southern and southwestern slopes of the Novopazar plateau - in the land of the village of Belogradets, about 45 kilometers from Varna and the Black Sea. The cellar, of course, is next to the vineyards - at the end of the village. The perfect combination of climate, exposure and soils /terroir/ for growing vines is not our discovery. In one of the two Thracian mounds next to the vineyards, archaeologists have found artifacts that show that more than 2,000 years ago, the ancient Thracians looked at vineyards and made wine in these places. And this is understandable - there is almost no other place in northern Bulgaria where red varieties ripen so well and white varieties fully develop their character without losing their characteristic freshness. The wine varieties are constantly increasing - the whites are represented by Chardonnay, Muscat, Viognier, Gewürz-Traminer, Riesling, Golden Smoke, and the reds - by Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Malbec.
History
The vines of each variety are imported from their homelands. Gewürz Traminer and German Riesling came from the Rhineland of Germany. Pinot Noir, both Cabernet, Merlot and Malbec were delivered by the prestigious French pepperoni Guillaume and Mercier. Regardless of the fertility of the variety during the growth of the vine, we regulate the yield to the amount of 450 - 500 kg / dca.
This allows the winery to have an annual capacity of 530,000 bottles. Our experienced technologist, in addition to white and red wines, makes wonderful rosettes of red Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Pinot Noir.
Since 2008, the grape harvest has been certified by the German company CERES. Organic grapes are a prerequisite for the production of organic wine.
