Along with Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot noir, the Merlot variety is included in the red wine assortment of vineyards in the south of the country (Muntenia, Oltenia, Banat, Dobrogea) and is also grown in several areas in the southern half of Moldova (Vrancea counties, Galati and Vaslui).
Dry Merlot wines, with an alcoholic strength between 12 ° - 12.5 °, are characterized by intense red color, extractivity, firmness and bouquet that evolves through aging.
Sweet, spicy or protein foods, less salty, give the wine a stronger, more prominent texture. The wine will have an acidic character and, if it has been aged in oak barrels, it will also present bitter nuances.
